well, good friday morning to you, i'm reena ninan. >> and hello, i'm t.j. holmes. one of the fbi's ten most wanted will make his court appearance this morning. >> federal officials took eric frein into custody following a lengthy manhunt. big, red letters under his picture, captured. >> he eluded them for 48 days, hiding in the remote woods, putting entire towns on lockdown. marci gonzalez is live in blooming grove, pennsylvania, with the detail on his capture. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. frein will be arraigned later this morning. he spent the night here, a fitting play to answer questions about a well-planned attack ands keep. an accused killer right back where the search began. nearly seven weeks after police say eric frein shot and killed a

state trooper and injured another, he was brought back wearing the handcuffs that belonged to the officer he's accused of killing. it's one sign of the justice they're trying to bring for the family. >> we have been in contact with trooper douglas and his family as well as corporal dixon's family. and relief and gratitude were their reaction. >> reporter: frein was captured around 6:00 yesterday evening by u.s. marshals around an abandoned airport. he was caught offguard, and though had weapons nearby, he gave up peacefully. >> he didn't give up because he was tired, he gave up because he was taught. >> reporter: the skilled survivalist and marksman hiding in the woods for 48 days. fears he could strike again, forcing schools to close and causing sleepless nights. >> i felt like i was in a war zone a couple of weeks ago.

it's a good thing he is caught and we can finally rest again. and frein faces several charges including capital murder. the district attorney does plan to pursue the death penalty. >> we know at some point schools were closed on stand by. and halloween was canceled, are things back on now? >> reporter: yeah. a lot of the communities canceled halloween. there was going to be no trick or treating. frein was out there and they didn't know what he would do. now he is in custody, halloween is back on. so many people feeling so relieved and their lives can go back to normal. >> it's a great weekend for those folks. marci gonzalez live in pennsylvania. thank you. >> and stay with abc news for developments on his capture. more live coverage coming your way on "good morning america."

and new details about the deadly plane crash in kansas. a small plane crashed into a building at at mid-couldn't airport in wichita, killing three people inside. and igniting the smokey inferno. it appears mechanical failure is to blame. tahman bradley has the latest. >> reporter: a tragedy in the skies over wichita. >> i need to declare an emergency. >> reporter: this chilling call from a pilot of a small plane after he crashed into a building on thursday. the pilot, identified overnight at mark goldstein and three people inside the building were killed. another five were rushed to the hospital, some with serious injuries. the roof burned for hours, sending out thick, black smoke. >> it was horrific. there was heavy smoke on the horizon as you approached the airport for miles. >> reporter: about 100 people were trapped inside. witnessed described the frightening moments. >> i saw an airplane with its

left tail going straight down, banking really hard, really loud. >> the building shook. then we saw the exhaust plum. >> reporter: the faa said shortly after takeoff goldstein reported losing engine power and was trying to return the king air b to the airport. he was a former air traffic controller who retired last year. the ntsb is investigating the crash. tahman bradley, abc news, washington. they may go to court to force kaci hickox to stay? quarantine. she went for a bike ride with her boyfriend yesterday. she says she posed no risk to anyone. the governor said it's his duty to protect the people of maine. and an emotional reunion in dallas tomorrow when nina pham is reunited with her beloved dog, bentley. he has been in quarantine since she was diagnosed. but now he's gotten the

all-clear to return home. and the baseball player, tom menino will lay in state. he led boston for 20 years until he was forced to forego a re-election bid. he died yesterday at the day of 71 after a long battle with cancer. the national guard is standing by in hawaii as lava threatens a small town. sometime in the next day or so, the lava will reach a highway. and it will cut off the homes of more than 8,000 residents from the outside world. it's moving at five yards per hour, so there's plenty of warning. here on the mainland, it's either a really chilly halloween or wet or both. don't sound like a lot of good options. >> and i can't believe some of these areas will see snow. accuweather jim dickey joins us now. good morning. >> good morning. and happy halloween.

. it is likely we are seeing the biggest monthly drop in gas prices since the height of the recession. a gallon is 33 cents cheaper than a month ago. that's a decrease of 10%. that's the most we have seen in a month since december of 2008. the national average this morning is right at $3 a gallon. and we should see another 15 to 20 cents off by thanksgiving. u.s. regulators are demanding answers from the makers of the exploding air bags. they are requiring taka da to
